Sup y'alls?

So, it really hasn't hit me yet that it's the new year. Or the new year resolution feeling isn't so strong in me. Whatever it is, I'm not particularly excited for the new year. No new leaves being turned over and whatnot for me.
Well, there will be, but it's not because I made a "new year's resolution." I made these goals and plans before the new year came. There will definitely be change happening to me this year. I graduate in May. That's huge. I'll be getting a real job afterward (where doing what, I don't know yet...). I plan to take a more active role in my efforts to be more fit. All these plans were set in place long before the new year came. So I am not feeling the "New Year" energy. Soon I'll be feeling that "new semester" and "last semester" energy. I start next Monday. I am excited.
I've been thinking about my life lately. Where it is and how I got here. And where it could go from here. Well, I guess I've been thinking more about who I am, not where I am.
I'm disappointed in my housekeeping skills (or lack there of). I am glad that my apartment is messy, not dirty. There is a HUGE difference. I grew up in a very dirty and messy house.
I know that the messiness has to with the fact that I have a small apartment. My closet isn't big enough by far. I want a walk in closet. I had one at my last apartment and I was able to contain my mess in there. I don't mind having a messy closet. There needs to be some sort of chaos, or we would just be trying to defy the laws thermodynamics. As energy is transformed (never lost or made) some of it always goes into the random form, or chaotic.
It's so true. Have you ever cleaned your desk and then in a few days find you have somehow let it get really messy and you can't figure out why? That's why! It's easier to just drop your pen on your desktop than to think to put it into, then do the actual work to put it into, its little cup. And so it is for every object. It's really quite fascinating.
Anywho... I digress.
I will be cleaning up my apartment in the next few days. I want it to be clean before I start school next week. I would have started yesterday, but I've been sick.
I want to make a habit of keeping my apartment less messy. That way when I get married someday I won't bring my messy habits to that new living space.
Well, there you have it. I hope you all enjoyed this little tidbit. Have a wonderful new year.

Hey Heather-

I totally understand about the lack of New Year motivation. I have so much going on right now that I just want to get that taken care of before I move on to the next big project. Plus I have always been more of a, "Make the goal as the need arises" type of person.

Anywho...I admire you for your goal to have a less messy house. If you don't mind a suggestion, check out flylady.net. She is what keeps my house functioning on a daily basis. As someone who also grew up in a messy dirty house, I understand how hard it is to form the habits that control that. Flylady is the bomb! I love her. Hope you have a great new semester. That's very exciting!

I'm not much of a resolution person either. I make short term and long term goals all year long so I don't see the point. It is kind of nostalgic though.
